Community Projects | Pedestrian Bridge | Riley’s Bridge for Bozeman’s Sourdough Trail, GVLT | Memorial for Riley Cole
Location | Sourdough Trail off of Graf Street, Bozeman, Montana
Materials | Steel plate, pipe, recycled gravel screening mesh and Gouda hardwood for the bench seating.
Design Intent | Inspired by Riley’s love of skiing; the entry rails recall the terrain park obstacles and the arc over the bridge is a memory to Riley’s extreme ski jumps with a perfect landing every time as he continued down the slopes with his friends. The structure of the bridge reflects Riley's passion for drawing the human figure; the railing and support structure are a metaphor for the bodies support structure - the spine and rib cage.
Award | 2013 Excellence Award for Magnificent Memorial Design, Bozeman Beautification Advisory Award
On many occasions, there will be a beautiful bouquet of flowers woven into the railing mesh.
