Community Projects | Ben Lyster Memorial Ski Bench Swing, GVLT
Location | Lindley Center trail, Bozeman, Montana.
Materials | Steel, concrete base, and recycled ski bench from Bridger Bowl Ski Area.
Design Intent | An abstracted cross inspired by the form of ski towers at Bridger Bowl where Ben loved to ski with his friends. The cantilever swing arm mimics the movement of riding the chair lift, along with the angle of the lift towers implying going up to the top of the mountain.
It was overwhelming to see how Ben had nurtured such a quality group of friends within his short time in Bozeman. These friends along with his family wanted to create a memorial for Ben. so they raised the money necessary to create a memorial, as well as making sure they were involved in the raising of the tower at installation.
